FAQ – Girls

Q- Are players grouped by age or experience?

DLYLA welcomes players of all abilities, whether they’ve been playing for years or have never played before and want to try something new!

Girls are generally divided by age/grade (K-4 and 5-8), however depending on number of players registered each season and level of experience, we may further split (ie K-2, 3/4, 5/6, 7/8) and/or allow players to “play up”

Q- What is my time commitment?

Players meet for an hour and a half on Sunday afternoons. When games start, older players (5th-8th graders) will have practices on Saturday mornings (if there isn’t a game scheduled on a particular Sunday, they will practice on Sunday). The 5-8th grade players play games in the Southern Edge League. Games are typically on Sundays and each team plays 2 games each Sunday. In the Fall, teams usually play 6-8 games total plus an end of season tournament. In the Spring, teams usually have a 10 game schedule plus an end of season tournament. Note that games are played at River Ridge HS, Hillgrove HS and other venues often up to an hour away.

Q- What are the expenses involved?

All players must purchase membership with USA Lacrosse which is $35 annually. Enrollment for the season is $150 and covers coaching, a jersey, league registration fees, and use of the facilities

Q- Is equipment provided?

DLYLA has a limited amount of rental equipment available on a first come first served basis. This includes a stick and goggles. Players will need to provide their own mouthguard. Cleats are optional but recommended. A refundable deposit of $50 is due at the beginning of the season. The check will be returned at the end of the season once the equipment is returned.

Q- Do I have to stay with my player or can I drop them off?

Players may be dropped off, but please pick them up ON TIME!

Q- How long are the seasons?

Seasons vary based on how many games can be scheduled but they generally are as follows:

  • Fall Season- August- October
  • Spring Season- February- April

Q- How can I stay in touch with coaches and league?

Team communications are via Team Snap, which includes text, chat and email communications; team roster information; and team practice and game schedule. Each team member will be invited to join Team Snap and must accept this invitation to enable communication.
