Druid Lakes Alumnus is Top Lacrosse Player in Dekalb County for 2025

Thomas Jury, a Druid Lakes Lacrosse Association (DLYLA) alumnus, was recognized as the top boy’s lacrosse player in Dekalb County for 2025. Scoring 31 goals and 17 assists, he led the high scoring offense at Lakeside High School in a successful 2025 season that included advancing to the 2nd round of the Statewide post-season tournament.

Thomas began his lacrosse career attending a DLYLA beginner clinic when he was in 4th grade. He continued to play in the DLYLA program through 8th grade and then entered Lakeside in 9th grade. Thomas played at Lakeside for 4 years and became team captain in his senior season. According to Lakeside community coach Josh Finglass, “Thomas truly loves the game of lacrosse which is evident in his play and how he approaches the game. He enjoys spreading the wealth of knowledge he has gained from watching and playing lacrosse with his teammates. His understanding and situational awareness of what is happening on the field has led not only his teammates to trust him, but the coaches as well.”

Thomas’ teammates included many players who were trained in the DLYLA program including 6 graduating seniors. Thomas’ potent attack line included two other DLYLA players—Wilson Maxey and Matt Bender—the three of whom plan to attend the University of Georgia and hope to try out for Georgia’s potent club lacrosse team.

Coach Finglass continues, “One thing that stands out about Thomas is the excitement he has for his teammates when they accomplish something. For example, Thomas loves scoring but the excitement he gets from helping a younger player score what may be their first goal sets him apart. After the games, he never wants to talk about his accomplishments, but the accomplishments other players had in the game that he was excited about.”
